How to Start Drifting — A Quick Beginner Guide

1. Find a smooth surface. Tiles, polished concrete, wooden floors and smooth parking areas work best. Rough surfaces kill the drift momentum immediately.
2. Set up the cones. Use the included traffic cones to create a simple oval or slalom layout. Start with wide gates and tighten them as you improve.
3. Build speed into the corner. Accelerate toward your first cone and begin steering before you reach it.
4. Flick the steering and hold throttle. As the car approaches the apex, steer sharply. The low-grip drift tires will cause the rear to step out into a slide.
5. Counter-steer to hold the angle. Once the rear breaks loose, turn the steering slightly opposite to the slide to maintain the drift and stop it from spinning out.
6. Power out and repeat. Feed the throttle to carry speed out of the corner, straighten the steering and set up for the next cone. The more you practice, the longer and cleaner your drifts become.
